I am a Research Scientist in VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd in Kuopio Finland with 11 years experience. My specialties are optical measurement technologies, especially thermography. My work includes preparation, management and research work related to drones, megawatt-scale solar photovoltaic power plants, the energy efficiency of buildings, pulp mill recovery boilers, LED lighting, intelligent lighting, and human circadian rhythm, printed electronics and solar cells among others. We cooperate with private companies and public partners. Previously I worked in Vaisala Oyj in Helsinki Finland for 7 years as a Test Engineer. My duties included designing and maintaining production test equipment for optical weather sensors such as cloud height ceilometers, runway visibility sensors and present weather detectors.

Mr. Cramer is the Head of the Nondestructive Evaluation Sciences Branch in the Research Directorate at NASA Langley Research Center. Prior to his management position, he was a senior researcher with specialties including experimental techniques for thermal and ultrasonic NDE as well as computational modeling of energy propagation in materials. Mr. Cramer is also the recipient of numerous NASA awards including the 2009 Government Invention of the Year, holds 12 U.S. Patents and has authored, or coauthored, more than 80 technical publications.

The President of Vicon Infrared, specializes in infrared FPAs, cameras, and systems, including infrared systems for a non-destructive test. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Vanderbilt University and Executive Management Certificates from Indiana University Graduate School of Business. His extensive technical and business experience, including assignments involving design/installation of turn-key, integrated IR systems, has afforded experience across several disciplines. This experience includes U.S. and international participation in technology assessment and acquisition analyses. He has helped several companies successfully launch new infrared product lines and has designed and installed cost-saving infrared systems in laboratories and factories.

Piotr Pręgowski has been active in the IR field since 1973. His interests include systems engineering, sensors, metrology, thermography, and imaging systems. A long-time employee of the Military University of Technology (Warsaw, Poland), where he received his MSc degree in Electronics (1970) and PhD in Optoelectronics (1985). Pręgowski started his own business, PIRS Pręgowski Infrared Services, in 1990, and currently serves as Polish consultant for the French companies ULIS and Sofradir. He is the author or co-author of over 125 academic papers, member of numerous advisory and editorial boards within the field. Pręgowski participates in the Steering Committee of Thermosense SPIE since 2004. Over the years he also received two Thermosense awards for outstanding papers (1999 and 2005: “The Kantsios Award”).

Recipient of two Thermosense awards for outstanding papers (1999 and 2005 as the Kantios Award -Thermosense XXVI).
Pręgowski was also awarded by a number of international and national entities for his patented work regarding a method of the heat exchanger tubes measurements – through flames – in the process furnaces, using a thermographic camera (2004). A few of such awards include foreign e.g. the silver medal at Brussels-Eureka-Innova Energy (2007); gold medal at the Salon International des Innovations Geneve (2009), and a gold medal from Russia for innovations).

As a research scientist, I led large-scale fire testing programs and conducted fundamental fire suppression research, including the application of novel IR thermography techniques to capture the dynamics of large-scale fires, digital image processing, and heat release rate and flame emission analyses. My work has resulted in new FM Global protection designs for the storage of distilled spirits and other flammable liquids. In my current role as Vice President, Innovation Science & Technology, I am responsible for developing new opportunities and technologies and feeding them into FM Global’s innovation system.

He has been a Manufacturer’s Representative of AGEMA INFRARED SYSTEMS and FLIR covering WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, AK, and HI, supporting new and existing PdM, R&D and Law Enforcement customers.

Morteza Safai is a technical fellow at the Boeing Company. His area of expertise includes; nondestructive inspection sensors and systems emphasizes in nanotechnology, x-ray backscattering and CT, MEMS, IR Imaging, Shearography, machine vision and microwave testing. His work experience included 20 Years at the Boeing Company, 4 years at FMC Food technology and 2 at Quest Integrated. He holds over 160 patent pending patents and 20 technical Publications. He holds a BS and MS. Physics from the University of Utah. He is currently the session chair for SPIE and IEEE.

Expertise
Gary holds degrees in Energy Engineering and Zoology from the University of Wisconsin. He has been using Infrared Thermography since 1975. During that time he has accumulated experience in field diagnostics as a consultant to industry and has worked for three major manufacturers of infrared imaging equipment. Gary has published several papers on the technology and its applications. He is also the editor and publisher of ITC’s highly acclaimed monthly newsletter for thermographers. In 2000, he co-founded the InfraMation Conference, the largest annual IR conference for thermographers. Gary is active on ASNT, ISO, and ASTM Infrared Thermography Committees and holds a professional engineer’s license. In addition, Gary provides advanced technical support and manages ITC’s online courses.

He received management training at “Universidad De Los Andes” and INALDE in Bogotá, allowing to him to have a strategic entrepreneurial vision of the business and related equipment sales. Ernesto is the President of Transequipos SA Colombia. Throughout the years the company has expanded to the Dominican Republic and Ecuador and has made key business associates in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Peru, Chile and Spain. Transequipos SA provides specialized laboratory services for dielectric insulating oil, gas chromatography and field maintenance to power transformers. The company is recognized for sustainability and efficiency, with excellent and solid experience in the industrial and power sectors in Colombia and Latin America.

Ernesto authored the book “Diagnosis and Field Maintenance for Power Electrical Transformers “.
He continues to give lectures nationally and internationally. He is sought after speaker on the book subject. He is also a Level III Certified Thermographer (Professional Thermographers Association and Snell). Throughout the years, Ernesto has taught about 100 courses in Certification Level I and Level II and has trained nearly 700 thermographs. Mr. Douglas Burleigh
Expertise
Mr. Doug Burleigh received a B.S. degree in Physics and an M.S. degree in Applied Physics (Materials) from Penn State University. He has been working in the aerospace industry for over 30 years. He was a pioneer in the use of infrared thermography for nondestructive testing (NDT) of composites and has been involved in this application for over 25 years.
He has been the conference chairman six times for the annual Thermosense conference on Infrared Applications, sponsored by SPIE (Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers). He originated and serves annually as the Chairman of the NDT & Materials Evaluation session of the Thermosense conference. His work experience includes the development of NDT methods and development programs for General Dynamics Space Systems Division, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, TRW, NASA, USA (United Space Alliance), Goodrich Aerostructures and others.
Mr. Burleigh’s infrared work has included the NDT of composite and metal structures used on space launch vehicles (Atlas, Titan, Centaur, Space Shuttle and X-33), satellites, commercial airliners, private planes, helicopters, America’s Cup racing yachts and other boats, composite reinforcements applied to concrete civil structures, and oil pipelines. Doug is certified as Level 3 by ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) in Thermal/Infrared inspection and has published over 50 technical papers.

Expertise
Prof Avdelidis has initiated several research areas involving infrared and thermal imaging in which he has published widely (more than 150 publications and conference papers) achieving a high number of citations (more than 1100 citations) and high “h” index (>17), and has attracted substantial funding (more than €20 million).
Apart from his involvement with universities, he has professional experience in the industry in the sectors of aerospace Hellenic Aerospace Industry, non-destructive testing (TWI) and robotics (Zenon).
He is also a Professeur Associe at Universite Laval, in Quebec, Canada, an editorial board member of the International Journal of Aerospace Engineering, and a member of 4 expert committees of scientific conferences – workshops, including ThermoSense.
