Thermal characterisation of a Controlled Laboratory Reactor

Fri, 2008-02-29 03:05
Saffron Walden -- Radleys have published a Technical Bulletin that describes how the thermal performance of its Lara™ Controlled Laboratory Reactor (CLR) was measured by performing a series of experiments and obtaining overall heat transfer coefficients. Knowledge of the heat transfer coefficients of reactors can provide important information relating to the thermodynamics of a reaction and estimation of the overall reaction power and enthalpy. The new Technical Bulletin details how these heat transfer coefficients have been calculated for Lara reactors and includes original experimental data and suggested reference reading material.

Mon, 2008-02-25 03:05
PetroLab's MINIFLASH FLP / FLPH / FLPL [Click for larger image] -- Albany NY, USA -- MINIFLASH is the only series of instruments for the automatic determination of the flashpoint of liquids and solid samples according to the advanced ASTM D7094 standard. This procedure describes the “Standard Test Method for Flash-Point by Modified Continuously Closed Cup (MCCCFP)”, which offers the highest repeatability and reproducibility and an excellent correlation to the D93 Pensky-Martens method: there is no statistically significant bias observed between ASTM D7094 and ASTM D93 Procedure A”as concluded during the last Round Robin. Furthermore, test results are equivalent to other well known standards such as Abel and TAG, and thanks to its unique design MINIFLASH can be used for more difficult applications such as testing of contaminated sampleslike diesel fuel in lube oil or gasoline in diesel fuel and for biodiesel testing.

65nm Technology Silicon Temp Sensor w/12bit A-D

Thu, 2008-02-21 03:05
Bangalore, INDIA -- Cosmic Circuits has introduced a silicon-proven temperature sensor in the 65nm TSMC process. The temperature-sensor comes with an integrated 12b sigma-delta Analog-to-Digital converter to provide an accurate digital readout. Today’s System-on-Chip devices in 65nm process technologyintegrate multiple systems on the same chip. The level of complexity and integration often results in increase in die-temperature. Systems that push performance or work in harsh high-temperature environments need capability to track the temperature. “Availability of a proven temperature sensor silicon IP core in 65nm effectively addresses this need, and enables value-added capabilities on our customers’ system-on-chips”, said Krishnan Ramabadran, VP of Marketing for Cosmic Circuits.

Humidity monitoring in freeze-drying

Wed, 2008-02-20 03:05
Lyotrack : Humidity monitoring for freeze-drying use Lyotrack 100 from Alcatel Vacuum Technology is a brand new moisture sensor specially developed for the freeze-drying application. It is particularly convenient on production freeze-dryers thanks to its capability to be steam sterilized. It can also be used on pilot and scaling up freeze-dryers for process development and scaling up studies. Lyotrack 100 measures the humidity which is present in the freeze-dryer’s atmosphere extracted from lyophilized products. Hence, humidity measurements are representative of the full batch, which is of high interest for process monitoring in parallel with temperature’s probes.

SLR Intra-Optical Light Sighting For IR

Sun, 2008-02-17 03:10
IRT Everest Interscience’s Patented Sighting System Solves Aiming Problems Tuscon AZ-USA -- (Vocus/PRWEB ) -- Everest Interscience's patented Through-The-Lens, or Single Lens Reflex Intra-Optical Light Sighting solves the inherent parallax problem caused by using Laser-Sighted Infrared Temperature Sensors (IRTs). Since the Infrared radiation and the LED Light pass through the same optical path, unlike other laser-sighted instruments, the LED shows the target's location, shape and size. Everest's Model 6000.1 is one IR temperature sensor that incorporates both the Intra-Optical Light Sighting and Vario-Zooom focusing (patent pending). Knowing where the infrared temperature sensor is 'looking' is one issue that makes it difficult to use infrared thermometers (IRT's) properly. Since the IR radiation from the object is invisible, the end user can't see where the instrument is pointing.
